Institute Mission and Objectives
MISSION
The mission for which the Institute is established is:
To enhance the quality of social, economic and cultural life in Australia through the advancement of processes of mutual recognition, cultural understanding, and civic cooperation in order to foster unity among the nation’s diverse cultural and social groups.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives for which the company is established are to promote:
a) the sharing of values fundamental to Australian democracy and
its legal framework
b) mutual recognition through innovation in inter-communal
communication
c) cultural understanding through research and education
d) civic cooperation through supporting collaborative projects
among stakeholders and the wider society
e) participation through strategic development of skills and
opportunities in active citizenship
OBJECTS
The objects for which the Insstitute is established are to:
(a) develop a charitable civil society organization designed to encompass its mission
(b) collaborate and build partnerships with civil society, educational,
government and corporate bodies which share its mission
(c) undertake research on its own behalf or in collaboration with stakeholders
in education, government, business, community and industry
(d) stimulate and engage in public debates on policy and practices relating to
its mission
(e) develop a public profile through publications, seminars, conferences and
other means of encouraging the communication of ideas
(f) create pathways for young people from diverse communities to participate
in leadership building opportunities
(g) engage in the development of creative and information projects and
products in print, the arts, the media and in digital environments
(h) participate in the processes identified in Article 15 of the UNESCO
Convention on Cultural Diversity to establish “an observatory for cultural
diversity which would collect, evaluate and monitor information, data and
best practices of relevance in this domain”
(i) build its role as a key reference point for advancing Australia’s future as a
diverse and unified society
(j) do all such acts as are incidental and conducive to the furtherance of
the above objects.
